Labour’s first budget - raising taxes, damaging businesses, putting jobs at risk

.

Despite denying it over 50 times during the General Election campaign, Labour’s first budget (30 October) in Government has raised taxes so much never have taxes been so high in this country.

All these taxes damage business, put jobs at risk, halt wage rises, raise inflation, harm car drivers, make workers and pensioners pay more in tax (with pensioners also losing their winter fuel payment too) and also harm those with savings in company shares. These taxes will also damage economic growth, reduce investment in skills and jobs, and, undermine the lives of hardworking people, families and pensioners across Bexleyheath and Crayford.

Mark Brooks, former Conservative Parliamentary Candidate at the 2024 General Election, said: “During the General Election, the Labour Party including the new Labour Member of Parliament said they would not be raising taxes on working people, that their plans were all fully funded, that businesses would be supported and there was no need to worry about jobs, wages and pensioner incomes. We have seen in this Budget that, as we all said at the time, that they would do exactly the opposite when in power. This has proven to be true. Labour always have viewed our hard-earned money as their money to spend.  With a new Conservative Leader on the horizon, it will be clear the public in Bexleyheath and Crayford will have a clear choice again.”
