Cllr. Brad Smith

Brad has lived in Bexleyheath Ward with his family for 30 years and is a former policeman and youth worker. He was first elected as a Councillor in Bexley in 2010. After serving as Chairman of Bexley’s Licensing Committee, and on Overview and Scrutiny Committees relating to Children and Adults, he became Cabinet Member for Adults’ Services in May 2016, and is a Member of Bexley’s Health and Wellbeing Board. He worked to secure agreement in February 2017 to formally progress integration of management and resources of Bexley’s Adult Social Care, and Oxleas NHS Trust’s Community and Mental Health, through the creation of Bexley Care. This is intended to reduce duplication, and streamline processes through an efficient joined up and responsive service that will promote wellbeing and independence. Bexley Care has three aims: 1. Improve the experience of service users and families 2. Deliver better health and social care outcomes 3. Reduce overall health and social care costs.

He is involved in current work proposed to further transform Adult Social Care delivery in Bexley through a new operating model.

Brad is committed to working with residents to resolve any issues they may have, and is grateful to have been re-elected by residents in 2018.
