Cllr. Sue Gower

Sue lives in Bexleyheath and has been a Bexley resident for 34 years. She is married (her husband manages a local charity) has 3 children and a grandson.

Sue's eldest son was disabled and as his carer she was involved with many local services, particularly education, health and social care. Sue wanted her experiences to help others so worked for many years in voluntary roles, including: Belmont School Governor, Trustee of Bexley Crossroads (carer’s charity) and as a Bexley Magistrate. In 2009 she received an MBE for supporting disabled children and young people in Bexley.

Sue has worked for Bexley and Croydon Councils, Bexley Voluntary Service Council and currently Kent Safeguarding Children’s Board, the role for which she has just been awarded NSPCC Child Protection Trainer of the Year.

Outside work, Sue enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching films, reading and exercises to relax and is an experienced cake decorator.

Cllr. Caroline Newton

Caroline has been a local Councillor since May 2010. Over the past eight years, she has been proud to represent the area in which she has lived for many years. She went to Hillsgrove Primary and Townley Grammar schools and still lives in Welling to this day.

Cllr. Teresa O'Neill

Teresa has been a Bexley Councillor since May 1998 and has been the Leader of the council since May 2008. She was also formerly the Deputy Leader and a Cabinet Member for Children’s Services & Education.

Cllr. Eileen Pallen

Eileen has been a Bexley resident for over 25 years living in Barnehurst.

She first became a Councillor in 2010 for Crayford Ward and then in Barnehurst Ward where she lives when one of the seats became vacant in 2014.

Cllr. Philip Read

Philip has lived in Bexley almost all of his life and his married and has 2 daughters both of whom attended local schools.

Cllr. Peter Reader

Peter is married to Irene and has 5 children, 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He's lived in Bexleyheath for all but five years of his life and for the last 15 years in the West Heath Ward.

Cllr. Melvin Seymour

Melvin is self-employed within the Building Trade having moved to the Borough nearly 40 years ago. His wife was born in Crayford and works for the NHS. His children attended St. Paulinus Infants School.

Cllr. Brad Smith

Brad has lived in Bexleyheath Ward with his family for 30 years and is a former policeman and youth worker. He was first elected as a Councillor in Bexley in 2010.
